For a Brussels entrepreneur, it is not always easy to know what organisation to turn to for help. Brussels is, in fact, home to various regional institutions that provide support to businesses.
Céline Fremault, Minister of Economy and Employment of the Brussels-Capital Region, had been planning for months to bring a number of these organisations under one roof. The aim was to promote cohesion and cooperation, while at the same time reducing costs.
The four organisations are: Atrium Brussels (regional agency for trade), Innoviris (innovation), RIB (research in Brussels), and our organisation!
The search for the ideal location was entrusted to citydev.brussels (former Brussels Regional Development Agency) several months ago. On January 17 of this year, the government finally made a decision. It will purchase the UNO building located on the Chaussée de Charleroi in Saint-Gilles.
A budget of €15m has been earmarked for the operation. The actual purchase price is €10.5m and the installation costs are estimated at €1.25m. The cost of the whole operation will therefore amount to €11.75m.
The relocation of the four organisations will take place progressively because lease contracts are still active. The idea is to have everyone settled in their new offices by the end of the year!
